Pittman, Major & Bashline Announce Over $3.6 Million in State Grants for Armstrong County Projects

HARRISBURG – Sen. Joe Pittman (R-41) and Reps. Abby Major (R-60) and Josh Bashline (R-63) announced $3,614,485 in state funding has been awarded for eight projects in Armstrong County. These investments from the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program and PA Small Water and Sewer Program were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) on January 20, 2026, in Harrisburg.

“Road network and water and sewer projects are an essential part of maintaining the stability of our communities, but often come with a high cost,” Pittman said. “I’m pleased to have worked with my colleagues to ensure this state support will be invested locally and can help to assist with necessary improvements. This is a great day, as these projects will improve services to numerous municipalities and residents within our region.”

“I’m pleased to partner with Sen. Pittman on these important infrastructure upgrades for our area,” Major said. “Some of the projects will improve roadways to allow for smoother travel, while others will address water treatment and stormwater issues. These are necessary improvements which would exponentially increase in cost if delayed as further deterioration would occur.”

“True progress is measured not by statistics alone, but by how effectively our actions improve the everyday quality of life for the people we serve,” said Bashline. “This news aligns with this mission, and our district will benefit in the long term.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development. The following projects are receiving support:

  • Manor Township is receiving $1,800,000 to rehabilitate and improve several streets as part of the Lenape Heights Community Transportation Improvement Project.
  • Burrell Township is being awarded $464,445 for the Iron Bridge Road Upgrade Project, which will reconstruct Iron Bridge Road.
  • Armstrong County is receiving $279,210 for the Armstrong County Multimodal Municipal Roads Improvement Project. This funding will be used to help with repaving roads throughout Manorville Borough.

The PA Small Water and Sewer Program assists with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, or flood control projects. The following projects are receiving support:

  • Ford City Borough is being awarded $300,000 for the Ford City Borough Water Treatment Plant Dehumidification Project.
  • Freeport Borough is receiving $250,000 for the Administration Building Improvement and Pump Station Project.
  • Eastern Armstrong County Municipal Authority is being awarded $219,380 for water treatment system improvements.
  • West Kittanning Municipal Authority will be making water storage tank improvements with a $201,450 grant award.
  • Leechburg Borough will be receiving $100,000 for the Leechburg Borough Pollution Reduction Plan.
