HARRISBURG – Two Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants totaling $4,000,000 have been awarded for projects in Armstrong County, according to Sen. Joe Pittman (R-41) and Reps. Abby Major (R-60) and Donna Oberlander (R-63).
ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township is being awarded $3,500,000 for the upgrade and replacement of the hospital-wide electrical infrastructure. These changes include replacing the original transformers with two new transformers, along with a new main distribution switchboard with new switchboard mounted branch circuit devices and a tie breaker.
Orphans of the Storm (OOTS) in Rayburn Township is receiving $500,000 for construction of the new shelter building. OOTS will strive to implement sustainable infrastructure that will be utilized for years to come, including the use of solar energy panels, geothermal heating and energy efficient windows.
“Investing in these projects is about helping our communities have the resources they need to thrive,” Pittman said. “I’m pleased to have worked together to advocate for this substantial support. The funding awarded today will open new opportunities and expand upon previous initiatives throughout our region to increase economic and community development, as well as provide greater access to medical care.”
“Ensuring the safety and well-being of our hospital in Armstrong County is essential to protecting patients and our healthcare workers,” said Major. “I am grateful these grants will bring much needed updates to ACMH Hospital.”
“This funding is a vital step in providing a safe and sustainable environment for our local animal shelter,” said Oberlander. “By investing in the Orphans of the Storm Shelter (OOTS), we are not only improving the facilities but also embracing environmentally friendly practices that benefit both the animals and our community. This project will ensure that OOTS can continue its important work for years to come.”
RACP is administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act. They must have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues, or other measures of economic activity.
