The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today awarded grants totaling $170,415 for two Westmoreland County projects, according to Senator Joe Pittman and Representatives Bob Brooks and Jason Silvis.
“These grants are great investments in two important rehabilitation projects in Westmoreland County, said Senator Pittman. “This will help Export clean up Turtle Creek and Washington Township address a stormwater runoff issue.”
Export Borough was awarded a $115,165 Flood Mitigation Program grant for the removal of sediment and debris from the Turtle Creek watershed.
“This grant to help Export with their flood mitigation efforts is vital to keep the infrastructure of this community strong,” said Representative Brooks. “The business community will continue to be protected.”
Washington Township was awarded a $55,250 Watershed Restoration Protection Program grant to replace a failing concrete pipe under Exton Lake Road with a new 36-inch pipe.
“Western Pennsylvania is blessed with a variety of different sizes of waterways,” said Representative Silvis. “While this provides a lot of recreational opportunities, there are also many places runoff can go. This Washington Township grant will assist with reducing stormwater runoff that over a long time can end up causing damage. I’m pleased to support this project.”
The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
